A psychological evaluation is a structured process used to better understand how a person thinks, feels, and functions. It may include a clinical interview, behavioral observations, and, when appropriate, standardized testing to help clarify diagnoses and guide progress.
-
Each evaluation is conducted with careful attention to clinical detail, differential diagnosis, and the unique context of each individual. The goal is not just diagnosis, but meaningful understanding and pathways for moving forward.
-
Services are available for children, adolescents, and adults. Whether concerns are new or longstanding, evaluations are designed to provide clarity, understanding, and practical direction for next steps.

Good answers start with good questions.
Behind every behavior is a story.
Behind every story is a person.
Practice Philosophy
More Than a Diagnosis
A psychological evaluation should do more than assign a diagnosis—it should answer questions.
Many people leave evaluations knowing what they were diagnosed with, but not understanding why that diagnosis fits, how it developed, or what they should do next. Others spend years wondering why treatment hasn't worked despite trying medication, therapy, or other interventions.
My goal is to provide clarity.
I take time to understand the whole person by considering developmental history, personality, family dynamics, medical factors, life experiences, strengths, and current concerns together. The result is a thoughtful evaluation that doesn't simply describe symptoms—it explains how the pieces fit together and provides practical recommendations for moving forward.
Looking Beyond Symptoms
Symptoms rarely tell the entire story.
Difficulty concentrating may be ADHD—or it may be anxiety, depression, trauma, poor sleep, chronic stress, learning differences, medical conditions, or a combination of factors.
Emotional outbursts may reflect a mood disorder, neurodevelopmental condition, personality dynamics, environmental stress, or something else entirely.
Rather than focusing on a single symptom or diagnosis in isolation, I examine how multiple factors interact to better understand the root of the problem.
Because effective treatment starts with asking the right question.
Education Is Part of Treatment
Receiving a diagnosis can bring relief—but it can also bring confusion.
I believe people deserve to understand what their diagnosis means, what it doesn't mean, and how it relates to their daily lives.
Whenever appropriate, I explain:
why diagnostic criteria were or were not met
how symptoms fit together
what the evaluation found
what treatments are supported by research
what realistic expectations look like
My goal is not simply to provide answers, but to help clients and families understand those answers.
About Dr. Verdone
I am a licensed psychologist specializing in psychological assessment and diagnostic clarification for children, adolescents, and adults.
My work centers on identifying the underlying factors contributing to emotional, behavioral, and cognitive concerns and translating that understanding into clear, practical recommendations.
No two people experience mental health in exactly the same way.
Anxiety, ADHD, autism, trauma, depression, personality patterns, medical conditions, learning differences, and life experiences can overlap in ways that are difficult to untangle.
My approach emphasizes careful observation, critical thinking, and attention to detail. I look for patterns across a person's history rather than relying on a single symptom or test score.
The goal is not simply to answer, "What diagnosis fits?"
The goal is to understand, "What is really happening here?"
I have extensive experience conducting comprehensive evaluations across a wide range of presentations, including ADHD, anxiety, mood disorders, trauma-related conditions, learning and attention difficulties, and complex diagnostic questions. Each evaluation is tailored to the individual, with careful attention to clinical detail, accuracy, and context.
I aim to make the evaluation process both thorough and accessible, providing clients, families, and referring professionals with meaningful insight and a clear path forward.
